SPEEDWAY, Ind. (WISH) — A police chase ended in a crash on the west side of Indianapolis Wednesday.
The Indianapolis Fire Department says the chase started as police questioned a suspected shoplifter at a Kohl’s store in Speedway.
Speedway police say the mother/daughter duo were both in Kohl’s when the store called police saying a shoplifting was in progress.
When the duo left the store, an officer told them to stop, but instead they got in their car and sped off, with the teen driving
The teen lost control during the chase while heading east on 16th Street at N. Tibbs Avenue, crossing the median, hitting one vehicle, crashing into a utility pole, rolling several times and coming to a stop after striking a second vehicle in the parking lot of the US Postal Service Rainbow Station.
The teen and her mother were trapped and had to be pulled out by firefighters. They were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
A man in one of the vehicles hit by the girl’s car was hurt.
42-year-old Louvina Reynolds was arrested for the shoplifting.
Reynolds was also wanted in Marion County for theft.
The teen faces preliminary charges of resisting/fleeing with a vehicle, reckless driving and leaving the scene of an accident.
