High speed chase closes I-70 WB in Hancock Co.

HANCOCK COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) – A man is in custody after a high speed chase raced down I-70 westbound Thursday morning.

Speeds reached more than 100 mph.

The Hancock County Sheriff’s Department said the chase began in Henry County on I-70 westbound, near mile marker 125.

Police said the suspect, 31-year-old Ramono Truesdale of Colorado Springs, Colorado, threw a bag of drugs out of the window during the chase.

Police put down stop sticks at mile marker 109. The man hit them with his car but kept driving.

He finally was stopped at mile marker 104 near State Road 9 in Hancock County.

Truesdale told officers he had ingested both PCP and marijuana during the chase. He was taken to a hospital for evaluation.

He faces preliminary charges of dealing narcotics, dealing cocaine, possession of marijuana, reckless driving, resisting law enforcement and obstruction of justice.

All lanes of I-70 westbound are now open.
