9/11 ceremonies planned around central Indiana

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Several ceremonies are planned around central Indiana to honor the lives lost September 11 terror attacks 15 years ago.

A sunrise yoga session will take place on the Glick Peace Walk on Walnut Street between Capitol and Illinois in downtown Indianapolis at 7:15 a.m.

“The Glick Peace Walk provides the perfect setting for people to learn about and reflect on individuals who have changed our world through peaceful achievements,” Indianapolis Cultural Trail, Inc. Executive Director, Karen Haley said in a press release.

A remembrance ceremony is planned in Carmel at the Carmel Fire Headquarters at 8:46 a.m.

The city of Columbus will observe the 15 year anniversary of the 9/11 attacks with a remembrance ceremony at City Hall. The ceremony will begin at 8:40 a.m. All community members are welcome to attend.

The city of Indianapolis will hold a ceremony at 3:30 p.m. at the Indianapolis 9/11 Memorial, located at 421 West Ohio Street.

Governor Mike Pence is directing flags at state facilities be flown at half-staff on Sunday.

Gov. Pence is also asking businesses and people across the state to lower their flags in honor of the men and women who died or were injured in the September 11 attacks.
