McAfee says no fine for 9/11 cleats

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Indianapolis Colts punter Pat McAfee isn’t expecting a fine for his 9/11 commemorative cleats.

McAfee wore the cleats for the season opener on Sunday against the Detroit Lions, despite the NFL telling players they would be fined for violating the NFL rule book.

In a Twitter post Wednesday morning, he said he was yet to be fined for the cleats, noting that NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell is “not a communist.”

Tennessee Titans’ linebacker Avery Williamson also sported specially-designed patriotic cleats when he lined up against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday.

The NFL is often referred to as the “No Fun League” in response to the enforcement of rules and regulations.
