More than 28,000 grams of drugs seized in Indy over past two months

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – WISH-TV is looking back where the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is finding the most drugs.

The numbers cover the last two months, which uncovers some interesting and troubling trends.

The numbers come out of the Vice and Narcotics Unit. They break down what kind of drugs were seized, how much was seized, and where they were seized over the past two months.

The drugs IMPD is pinpointing are cocaine, heroin, marijuana and meth.

The districts are north Downtown, southwest, northwest, east and southeast.

The following drugs were taken off the streets:

  • More than 2,100 grams of cocaine
  • 2,000 grams of heroin,
  • Nearly 23,000 grams or 50 pounds of marijuana
  • About 1,000 grams of meth

Each drug seems to have a distinct district of popularity. There were no close seconds.

The Vice Squad seized the most cocaine from the east side. The most heroin was seized from the northwest. The most marijuana was found in the southeast district, and meth was the most abundantly seized in the southwest.
