One month after tornadoes, Hendricks County holds emergency preparedness fest

HENDRICKS COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) — Hendricks County Emergency Management officials, the Hendricks County Health Department, and several other groups are teaming up to host an emergency preparedness fest.

The event comes just one month after tornadoes touched down in Hendricks County leaving damage behind. No deaths or serious injuries were reported after the tornadoes, but Ron Burke, Emergency Coordinator for the Hendricks County Emergency Preparedness Fest, said it’s a good reminder to prepare for anything.

“Danville Fire Department is bringing a house fire simulator for kids to learn how to safely escape a fire. There will also be fire trucks, ambulances, a hazmat decontamination set-up, and a medical transport helicopter for families to walk through. We will also have food trucks, activity stations, and other community resource agencies available,” Burke said.

The Hendricks County Emergency Preparedness Fest begins at noon on Wednesday and continues until 7 p.m. in the Hendricks County Fairgrounds Expo Hall. The event is free to the public.
