Authorities searching for missing teen and her newborn son

MADISON COUNTY, Ill. (WISH) — The Madison County Sheriff’s Office in Illinois are on the lookout for an endangered juvenile and her two-week-old son.

Authorities said 13-year-old Katherine E. Derleth and her son Christopher Ray Derleth went missing Sunday morning in Edwardsville, Illinois, where they were in custody of a guardian.

They believe they may be in the custody of Katherine’s step-father, 39-year-old Christopher M. Derleth and may be headed to West Virginia.

Christopher M. Derleth is known to drive a green 1997 Mercury Villager Astrovan, with licence plate number E833210. He is known to be an active camper, and they may be camping in rural campgrounds.

Katherine is described as being 4’9 and 95 pounds with 3 birthmarks on her right knee. She has brown shoulder length hair and brown eyes.

Her son Christopher has brown hair and dark eyes.
