Bloomington rape suspect now connected to separate burglary

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (WISH) — A man arrested last week for a rape in Bloomington is now connected to another case in the area.

Devin Grounds was arrested by the Bloomington Police Department on Sept. 15 on charges of burglary, rape and theft for an incident that occurred in the 2000 block of North Walnut Street on Sept. 5.

BPD has now connected Grounds to a burglary on Sept. 8 in the 400 block of East Melrose Avenue. Investigators said a woman woke up to find a man in a mask crouched next to her bed. She screamed and the man fled. Police said Grounds’ DNA was found in the victim’s residence.

Detectives with BPD are still looking into other incidents that occurred in the city in early September.
