IMPD looking for suspect wanted in string of robberies

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Police are searching for a suspect wanted in connection to a string of robberies.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, the suspect is thought to have robbed the Circle K gas station located in the 2400 block of North Keystone Avenue on September 3 just before 8 a.m.

During the robbery of the gas station, police said the suspect took an undisclosed amount of money from register, while armed with a handgun and then fled the scene on foot.

Police said that same suspect is also believed to have been involved in robberies of a Crown Liquors and Big Red Liquors on the north side of the city.

The suspect has been described as a black male, between 5’8″ and 5’9″, weighing 160 pounds.  He has a medium, muscular build and a light mustache and goatee.

At the time of the Circle K robbery, the man was wearing a white shirt, blue jean shorts, black and white tennis shoes and a black hat.

IMPD believes the suspect could be responsible for as many as six robberies. Investigators say the suspect hasn’t hurt a clerk, and police would like to reach him before he strikes again.

“Our fear is as he gets a little more bold he’s going to hurt a clerk, or he is going to be confronted by someone in the store,” said IMPD Major Richard Riddle.

If you see the suspect you are asked not to approach him but to call 9-1-1.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to to contact Crime Stoppers at 317-262-8477.
