15-year-old in Tennessee expelled after bringing loaded handgun to school

RUTHERFORD COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) – A 15-year-old Siegel High School student in Tennessee has been expelled after school resource officers found a loaded .22-caliber handgun in his possession.

Students reported seeing a student with a gun during a routine drill Wednesday afternoon, according to Rutherford County Schools Communications and Community Relations Coordinator James Evans.

The student was detained and will be expelled under the district’s zero tolerance policy.

The Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office is conducting an investigation and the student is expected to face criminal charges.

The student has not been identified at this time since he is a minor.
