Animal shelter holds pet supply drive in honor of fallen IMPD officer
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Three years after the death of Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Officer Rod Bradway, a pet supply drive is being held in his honor.
Officer Bradway donated his time to German Shepherd Rescue Indy. It was an organization close to his heart and this is one way to keep his memory alive.
The organization says it costs $12,000 monthly to run the shelter. They are in need of everything from pet food, toys, and brushes to cleaning supplies, blankets and towels.
German Shepherd Rescue Indy was founded in 2011. Since then the rescue has saved over 460 dogs from kill shelters in Indiana and surrounding states, according to its website.
On Sept. 21, Indianapolis City Market staff along with shelter director Amber Marks, will be posted in the east plaza ready to take your donations. You don’t even have to get out of your car, just pull up along Alabama Street and the volunteers will take your items curbside.
The pet supply drive begins at 9:30 a.m. and continues until 1:30 p.m.
