Go-karting for a good cause in Speedway

SPEEDWAY, Ind. (WISH) – Several people went go-karting for a good cause in Speedway Wednesday night.

Former IndyCar driver and team owner Sarah Fisher and her husband are helping out a little girl named Zoey, who has cancer.

At four years old, Zoey has already had ten weeks of chemotherapy, and is getting ready for 16 more. It’s long, intense treatment made a bit easier thanks to the love she’s getting from the community, including Fisher and her husband, Andy O’Gara.

The couple, who also have a daughter named Zoey, said Zoey’s story hit close to home, and they just wanted to help.

It’s been overwhelming for Zoey’s mom, Fern Wilkison.

“The support that we’ve gotten just means everything to my husband, my family, it’s been helping us get through this rough patch of hers, it’s overwhelming with emotions,” said Wilkison.

Fisher opened up Speedway Indoor Karting Wednesday night and donated all proceeds to help Zoey’s family with medical bills.

They are also accepting donations for Zoey. To find out how you can help, contact Speedway Indoor Karting here.
