2 arrested for drug charges in New Castle, child removed from home

NEW CASTLE, Ind. (WISH) – Two people were arrested Wednesday afternoon after a search warrant was issued for their New Castle home.

The search warrant was issued as part of an ongoing investigation by the Meth Suppression Team, in regard to the manufacture and possession of methamphetamine.

The Pendleton District Meth Suppression Team and members of the Henry County Drug Task Force served the search warrant just before 1 p.m. at a home located in the 120 block of North 23rd Street in New Castle.

Tonya Asbury, 41, and Nicholas Martin, 33, both of New Castle, were arrested.

Asbury was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine and maintaining a common nuisance and Martin was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of a hypodermic needle and maintaining a common nuisance.

The two were transported to the Henry County Jail.

Division of Child Services were also called to the scene, and a child under the age of six was removed from the home.
