First Indiana K9 training facility opens

BRAZIL, Ind. (WISH) – Indiana law enforcement will open the state’s first ever K9 unit training facility.

The new K9 academy will be on the Indiana Sheriff’s youth ranch on State Road 59 in Brazil, Indiana.

Police said the new academy will train dogs to become certified to work with police. It will also train officers to work with the dogs.

The Indiana Sheriff’s Association said the new facility will let officers spend less time out of state and away from the people they serve and protect.
