Indianapolis company lost nearly $2.7 million in fraud scheme

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A Greenwood man has been charged with mail fraud and making a false tax return.

According to United State Attorney Josh Minkler, the charges were announced on Thursday against Troy L. Sissom, a former project manager for an Indianapolis construction management company.

Sissom worked for F.A. Wilhelm Construction Company in Indianapolis as a project manger. In 2003, Sissom created a fake corporation called LTEE Source. He would create false invoices in the company name and submitted them to the accounting department at WCC for payment. The checks would then be mailed to the company and Sissom would cash the checks.

Prosecutors say, it’s estimated that WCC lost over $2.7 million from 2003 to 2005.

Sissom pleaded guilty to the charges and could face up to 20 years in jail.
