INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — An Indianapolis man has been sentenced for robbing a south side pharmacy last year.

Anthony Jackson, 19, was sentenced by a judge Thursday to 9 years and 3 months in prison.

Jackson robbed the CVS Pharmacy at 3705 Kentucky Avenue with a 9mm handgun on Oct. 14, 2015. He got away with 3,649 Oxycodone pills, 512 Alprazolam pills, 548 Hydrocodeon pills, 107 morphine pills and other drugs.

Nearby IMPD officers quickly took him into custody.

“In 2015, Marion County was the epicenter for pharmacy robberies in Indiana,” said IMPD Chief Troy Riggs. “We will continue to work with our federal partners, including the U.S. Attorney’s Office, to vigorously purse federal charges against those committing these violent crimes. Successful prosecution of these cases at the federal level should serve as a deterrent to those targeting pharmacies in our city.”

Jackson will serve three years of supervised release following the prison term.
