Video: Mother overdoses inside Family Dollar; child screams and pulls body

LAWRENCE, Mass. (WISH) – Police say a mother overdosed inside a Family Dollar in Massachusetts, while in the care of her daughter.

According to police, the woman went limp next to her two-year-old daughter. The incident was captured on a cell phone.

In the video, the child is seen screaming and tugging at her mother’s body.

According to CNN, the toddler is safe, but police plan to charge the woman with child endangerment.

The video captured is now a piece of evidence.

“It’s very, very disturbing to see someone obviously in the matter of addiction, where it overtakes someone to the point where they’re not able to take care of their child, leaves their child vulnerable,” Lawrence Police Chief James Fitzpatrick said.

Police said they think what the mother overdosed on was an oral version of heroin or an opiate-based narcotic like fentanyl.

The child is in protective custody. The mother is expected to be charged by the end of the week.CNN contributed to this.
