Teen credited with saving man’s life gets big surprise from Walmart

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) Northrop sophomore Rashaad Moore got a big surprise from Walmart Friday at school.

“I am very thankful,” Moore said. “I did not know that was going to happen and this is a lot of support that I’m very thankful of.”

A trip at Walmart with his neighbor, a disabled veteran named Ray, turned this teen into a hero. Ray started having a heart attack and Moore sprung into action performing life-saving CPR. The superstore wanted to make sure it didn’t go unnoticed.

“Just very pleased,” store manager Darlene Walker said. “Very pleased with what he did to stand up and help because that doesn’t happen every day.”

The superstore surprised him with a 50″ smart TV and $100 gift card after school.

Moore said the new smart TV is a good replacement for the one he currently has, which is 20 years older than he is.

“It’s a big box TV and it just sits there and sometimes I’ll play XBox on it and it still works but now I got through it and now I got something better,” Moore said.

It’s a small token for what the teen did last week.

“Amazing kid. Amazing. Amazing. That’s all you can say,” Walker said.

An amazing kid, with an amazing heart.

“I did not know it was going to go this big and this far to this extent, but I am very blessed that everybody is showing support and love and I’m very appreciative,” Moore said.

Moore told NewsChannel 15 his friend is doing a little better, but still isn’t able to communicate. He said he hopes he’ll be able to talk to him in a few weeks.
