$4M federal grant to help students land technology jobs

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – A $4 million federal grant will help train economically disadvantaged and minority students for tech jobs.

Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis says the grant has been awarded to its School of Informatics and Computing and to Ivy Tech Community College Central Indiana by the National Science Foundation.

The main objective of the program is to educate, graduate and place 80 associate and 60 baccalaureate degree students in information technology jobs in five years. It’s designed to help students who have financial need and are either economically disadvantaged or an underrepresented minority.
