IMPD says trio connected to 50-100 car break-ins

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department arrested three people for breaking into cars. The suspects targeted cars and pick-up trucks in parking lots since July.

The three are accused of breaking into vehicles in the Holiday Inn Express parking lot in the 5000 block of South East Street. They are also accused of breaking into a pick-up truck at Tex Mex in the 1000 block of East Street. In addition, police believe they could be connected to dozens and possibly 100 other vehicle break-ins.

IMPD investigators arrested Jesse Sawyer, Thomas McPeak, Amanda Demoss. In the court documents, IMPD received a confession from two of the suspects. Documents stated the suspects would take the loot to local pawn shops.

The three estimate they netted $5,000-$10,000 in cash. The suspects used the money to support their lifestyle, and feed a meth addiction according to the suspects.

“Sorry it has to happen like that, times are getting tougher,” said Eddie McQueen, a resident.

All three suspects are currently in the Marion County Jail. It is possible one of the suspects could possibly face federal charges.
