Bus driver calls police after clown scares kids at Fort Wayne bus stop

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) A bus driver with Fort Wayne Community Schools called police Thursday morning after a person dressed in a full clown costume approached as many as 11 students at a bus stop and scared them.

The students were near the intersection of Oxford and Winter waiting to be taken to South Wayne Elementary School when a person wearing the clown outfit walked up. The costume featured red hair, a red nose and long, sharp teeth. The person then took off on foot, north on Winter Street.

Fort Wayne police said they will monitor bus stops in the area on Friday. An officer told 24-Hour News 8’s sister station, WANE, that if the person had been caught, he or she would have been told simply to “knock it off.”

The clown sighting is one of many that have been reported in several states over the past several weeks.
