IMPD continues effort to take drugs, guns off the streets

INDIANAPOLIS – Officials with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department say they’ve taken more drugs and guns off the streets in Indianapolis.

IMPD said they arrested 57-year-old Kevin Murphy aka “Dirty Murphy” in the 3700 block of Hillside Avenue  on Wednesday morning.

North District Narcotics and Flex Teams detectives served a search warrant on the home and found five grams of suspected crack cocaine, 1/2 gram of suspected heroin, five grams of suspected marijuana and a .380 caliber Talon handgun. Detectives also found what they believe is liquid codeine and an unknown liquid substance.

Murphy was arrested on preliminary charges of dealing of cocaine, possession of cocaine, heroin and marijuana. He was also preliminarily charged with serious violent felon in possession of a handgun.

This arrest follows another arrest on Tuesday morning as IMPD continues their commitment to the neighborhood policing and enforcement. Anyone can report suspicious activity by calling 911 or through Crime Stoppers at 317-262-8477 to remain anonymous.
