Man robs Lafayette Burger King drive-thru on foot

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – Lafayette police say a man broke a drive-thru window at a local fast-food chain and stole money inside overnight.

Shortly after 1:30 a.m. Thursday, police said a man walked up to the Burger King on Greenbush Street and broke the drive-thru window with a blunt object like a hammer or an ax. He then reached in to steal cash. No injuries were reported.

Around the same time, the Lafayette Police Department also got reports of a man trying to break into a car in the 1900 block of Morton Street. The victim told police the subject smashed the rear window with a hammer and stole a dress out of the backseat. The victim was unharmed.

Just after 2:15 a.m., police were called to St. Elizabeth East regarding a battery that occurred earlier in the Greenbush BK parking lot. Another victim told police she was attacked by a man while eating her food in the parking lot of the BK. She said he approached her and demanded money, then hit her in the head with some kind of weapon. She mentioned he also broke her window with the object.

According to a release, the man in each case had similar descriptions. But at this time, police have not confirmed if the same man was involved in all three incidents.

Police set up a perimeter at the first scene, but did not find the person of interest.

The investigation is ongoing in all three cases.
