Pence Ft. Wayne rally is meant to help other Republicans

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Governor Mike Pence will bring his campaign for Vice President back to Indiana Friday when he hosts a rally in Fort Wayne.

Donald Trump has a solid lead over Hillary Clinton here in Indiana so there is no need for Pence to hold a rally here, unless he’s trying to help out other Republicans.

And that’s exactly what he’s doing.

He will share the Fort Wayne stage with Indiana Senate candidate Todd Young and with Lieutenant Governor Eric Holcomb, who is running to succeed him in the Statehouse.

Spokesmen for those two campaigns say that the rally was Pence’s idea and they are grateful.

“It’s just another indication that this is a very serious national race that’s gonna decide the future of the Senate,” said Jay Kenworthy of the Todd Young campaign. “It’s gonna decide the future of the Supreme Court.”

“Obviously having the governor of our home state on the national stage running for Vice President is a huge coup,” said Pete Seat of the Eric Holcomb campaign, “and when he’s able to hold a rally like this we’re all for it.”

The Pence rally will give national exposure to the Indiana races and the hope from Republicans is that it will also energize the GOP base.
