One dead after single vehicle accident in Hamilton County

HAMILTON COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) — Authorities are investigating causes for a crash after a man was found dead in a field late Friday.

The accident occurred just after 10:30 p.m. Friday on 296th Street and Carpenter Road in Hamilton County.

Deputies from the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office believe 29-year-old Steven E. O’Neal was travelling on 296th Street when he ran off the road and struck a utility pole, causing him to overturn.

O’Neal was pronounced dead on scene.

Authorities are looking into what caused the crash, but believe high water from recent rains may have been a factor.
