Gas station charges Florida family nearly $10,000 for tank of gas

FORT MYERS, FL (WISH) – A Florida family says a gas station charged them $10,000 for a tank of gas.

Susan Gower said back in May her husband filled up and found that his credit card was over the limit the next day.

When they checked the account, they saw that the gas station charged him $9,949.36. It said the pump charged him for more than 2,700 gallons of gas.

Gower said they got the money back a few weeks later, but she was still frustrated with the customer service.

“It stemmed from the glitch in his gas pump. He just wouldn’t ever own up to the fact that he was wrong,” Gower said.

She said while her account was frozen, she was unable to use her Visa points. Gower also added, every time she called the gas station to get help they would hang up on her.CNN contributed to this report.
