New high school to open on east side

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A new high school is close to opening its doors in Indianapolis.

Purdue announced a new partnership with Indianapolis Public Schools and its Polytechnic High School, which is set to come to Indianapolis next fall.

Officials say the new school will take over the former P.R. Mallory building on Washington and Rural Streets.

The Polytechnic Institute would allow 150 IPS students for its first class.

It would help them succeed in high school and earn their diploma while being admitted directly to Purdue.

The new building’s renovations are set to be done by fall of 2018.
