Former Ball State football player files suit regarding concussions

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A former Ball State University football player has filed a federal lawsuit related to concussions he suffered in the 1990s.

Geoff Donner was a fullback with the Ball State football team from 1993-95. In his lawsuit against the Mid-American Conference and the NCAA, he said he didn’t receive appropriate medical attention during the at least three concussions he suffered.

Donner said in one instance in 1993, he tried to sit out of a practice with a concussion but was told by the coaching staff that he “must either attend practice or he would lose his scholarship.”

The suit says Donner “suffers from anxiety, dementia, depression, headaches, impulse control, memory loss, sleeping disorder, and other debilitating issues.”
