Man receives 60 years in 2014 murder case

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A 2014 murder has resulted in a man heading to prison for 60 years.

Aaron Smith was sentenced Wednesday for the murder of Louis Myers. Myers was found shot in the 4000 block of Meadows Drive on the evening of June 6, 2014. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Smith was arrested in September of that year.

Smith was found guilty of one count of murder last month.

On Wednesday, he received a 60 year sentence in the Indiana Department of Correction with jail credit for 441 days. A charge of unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon was dismissed.
