Zionsville father arrested after shaking death of 3-month-old son

BOONE COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) — A Zionsville man has been arrested and charged with shaking his 3-month-old son to death.

Ronald Robbins II, 23, of Zionsville allegedly injured the baby Sept. 11 in Pittsboro. After initially denying he did anything to hurt the boy, Robbins admitted to shaking the 3-month-old when he wouldn’t stop crying, according to a probable cause affidavit.

The boy continued to cry and Robbins eventually took him to the emergency room. He underwent surgery for a brain bleed at Peyton Manning’s Children’s Hospital, but died of his injuries Sept. 23.

Robbins told investigators he didn’t realize shaking the baby could cause injury.

Robbins was arrested without incident in Hendricks County and taken to the Boone County Jail. He faces felony charges of neglect of a dependent resulting in death and aggravated battery.

This is the second shaken baby case of the year in Boone County.
