2nd man sentenced to more than 50 years for double homicide

TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) – The second man involved in an August 2015 double homicide on Perrine Street was sentenced Thursday to more than 50 years behind bars.

Jacob Guffey was sentenced to 57 ½ years in the Department of Corrections by a Tippecanoe County courtroom. He is also ordered to pay restitution to the two victims’ families.

More than 10 people testified on behalf of Guffey Thursday. His attorney said in the 20 years of being in law, he has never seen that kind of support for someone who pleaded guilty of murder.

In court, Guffey admitted to pulling the trigger that shot and killed both victims – 36-year-old Aaron Hunter Jr. and 46-year-old Terry Smith Jr.

24-Hour News 8’s sister station, WLFI had a reporter in the courtroom and will have the full story on the proceedings, including hearing from one of the victim’s families.

This story will be updated when more information becomes available.
