Local pastors meet with IMPD

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Indianapolis Police North District Commander Christopher Bailey scheduled a meeting with local pastors a month ago. It just so happens that the meeting happened a day after someone fired multiple shots at IMPD’s Northwest District Headquarters on 3800 block of Industrial Boulevard.

The pastors from different locations filled the basement of IMPD’s North District on East 30th Street. Once inside, the pastors were treated to lunch, and an open discussion.

“We need your help,” said IMPD Chief Troy Riggs.

After pleasantries were exchanged, Riggs debriefed the pastors on what is happening in the city.

Riggs left, and Bailey led the discussion with the pastors, as the media left so that those inside could have an open discussion.

About an hour later, the talks were over.

24-Hour News 8 stuck around and spoke to the pastors that attended the meeting.

“I think this is a good thing when you bring law enforcement and citizens together,” said Rev. Malachi Walker.

Thursday evening, residents will meet at Northwest District to pray for IMPD, and the city of Indianapolis.

As investigators work to find out who fired the shots where police start their day.
