INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Indiana State Police have extended the voter registration fraud investigation to include 56 Indiana counties.
There were only nine counties under investigation on Oct. 4.
Indiana State Police raided the Indiana Voter Registration Project this week.
A spokeswoman for the group said it was politically motivated by Secretary of State Connie Lawson and her friends in the Indiana State Police.
The group also states that the investigation is aimed at undermining urban black voters.
Specifically the group says that ISP Trooper Stoney Vann may be behind it.
Stoney Vann, an ISP trooper who has been target of the criticism denies the allegation.
“They are all lies, I categorically deny the allegations, “Vann told I-Team 8 in a phone interview late Thursday.
Vann says he is one of 25 investigators at ISP but he is not the lead investigator on this particular case.
He has filed an exploratory committee to run for Johnson County sheriff in 2018. He says his superiors in the state police know about it.
