WISH-TV’s Lauren Lowrey competing in ‘Dancing with the Stars of Boone County’ for good cause

Indianapolis (WISH) — Daybreak Anchor Lauren Lowrey will take the stage Saturday night to compete in a ballroom dance fundraiser. The event will benefit Mental Health America in Boone County (MHABC).

The Dancing with the Boone County Stars fundraiser will feature local leaders dancing in a similar format as the popular television show, with several Boone County court judges serving as the judges of the competition.

“I woke up in a cold sweat two nights ago, thinking about my routine,” Lowrey said on Daybreak Friday.

Each participant was given ten free 45-minute lessons through the Arthur Murray Dance Studio in Whitestown to learn their routine. Each participant was responsible for choosing their own music and dance style.

“It’s been 10 years since I’ve danced, so I was really nervous in my first lesson trying to put this all together,” said Lowrey.

The 4th annual “Dancing with the Boone County Stars” fundraiser will directly benefit the efforts of MHABC. The fundraiser will provide the following:

  • Awareness to mental health issues
  • Provide outreach to the community and put community members in touch with mental health resources
  • Assist families in crisis
  • Assist schools with tragedy response and suicide prevention
  • Assist women and children who have been victims of domestic violence

The evening will also feature a dinner and a silent auction. Tickets are $55 for dinner, silent auction and a seat for the show.

For anyone just interested in seeing the show, doors open at 7 p.m. and tickets cost $25 to $30 at the door.

The fundraiser is October 8 at the Witham Pavilion at the Boone County 4-H Fairgrounds.

Tickets can be purchased over the phone at 765-482-3020 ext 16 or on the organization’s website, www.mentalhealthamericaofboonecounty.com.
