Avon Town Council set to vote on controversial apartment complex

AVON, Ind. (WISH) — The Avon Town Council is set to vote on a controversial apartment complex at Satori Pointe.

The agenda for the council’s regularly scheduled meeting set for Thursday night is not yet posted online, but a council member tells 24-Hour News 8 the final vote on the variance needed for the project to move forward will happen at that meeting.

A similar proposal was voted down in April after the council heard opposition from Avon schools officials and some residents.

Satori Pointe is within a TIF district, meaning tax dollars do not pass through the entities like the schools, libraries, police and fire departments.

Some worry building any residential units there would have a negative financial impact on the school district.
