Ball State orders shelter in place after shooting near campus

MUNCIE, Ind. (WISH) — Ball State University told students to shelter in place after a shooting near campus Saturday morning.

The university issued an alert shortly before 7 a.m., saying an armed black man fled toward campus after a shooting near Bethel Avenue and Glenwood Avenue.

The shelter in place order was lifted around 8:15 a.m. Muncie police said there was no ongoing threat to the campus.

Officials have not said if anyone was seriously hurt in the shooting.
