Indianapolis man fatally shot reportedly breaking into Muncie apartment


MUNCIE, Ind. (WISH) — An Indianapolis man breaking into a Muncie apartment was fatally shot by the tenant Saturday morning, according to police.

Police were called to an apartment in the 1700 block of N. Glenwood Avenue around 6:30 a.m.

A woman reportedly told police two men were trying to break into her apartment when she shot one of them, 21-year-old Trayon Turner of Indianapolis. Turner later died of his injuries.

The other intruder fled the scene, according to Muncie police.

A man inside the apartment was shot by the suspects, police said. He was taken to the hospital and is expected to recover.

A third person walked into the hospital with gunshot wounds around 7 a.m. Muncie Police Chief Steve Stewart told 24-Hour News 8 he had “no comment” on how this person was related to the investigation.
