Thousands run in Indy Half Marathon

LAWRENCE (WISH) — About 3,000 runners participated in the 21st annual Indy Half Marathon at Fort Harrison State Park Saturday morning.

The race, which included a half marathon, 5K and kid’s one mile race, started at Porter’s Books and Bread went through Fort Harrison State Park and surrounding neighborhoods.

While it is the 21st Indy Half Marathon, it is the start of the first Indython, which unites Saturday’s races and the Indianapolis Monumental Marathon, half marathon, 5K and kid’s run that takes place on Nov. 5. If runners finish events on both weekends, they will get an additional medal.

Everyone running in the half marathon Saturday will receive a medal and T-shirt. There will also be a post-race cookout celebration for the half marathon’s 21st birthday.
