Kids with healthy diet make bigger improvements in reading

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Dr. Felicia Stoler, a registered dietitian, stopped by 24-Hour News 8’s studios Monday to discuss what children should be including in their diet.

According to Stoler, research found in the last few weeks that children develop better literacy skills during their first three years of school if they eat healthy.

The study published in the European Journal of Nutrition tracked the progress of 161 children 1st to 3rd grade. It found kids with a healthy diet, including vegetables, fruit, fish, healthy fats and whole grains did better on reading tests and were able to make more improvements in their reading.
