Senior fights off gunman

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — On Saturday morning, Jim Strange had his hands full.

He was working on putting the finishing touches on repairing an RV. As he worked away just after 9:00 a.m., an unknown clean cut man stepped inside the shop. He asked Strange to change a tire for him.

As the 70-year-old replied to the request, the stranger pulled a gun out on Strange. The gunman demanded cash. Strange replied he didn’t have any. That’s when the suspect searched the senior’s pockets taking credit cards, cash and even Strange’s drivers license.

It was far from over. Strange saw a crowbar on the ground, he picked it up, and tried to hit the suspect. It didn’t work. The intruder pushed Strange into a room, and closed the door. Strange did not give up, he forced his way out of the room and grabbed a gun and fired a warning shot in the air.

The suspect took off.

On Monday, just past noon, Strange shared his story with 24-Hour-News 8.

Despite the frightening moments, Strange kept his sense of humor. In fact, at one point he offered to help the suspect, if he is willing to seek assistance.

“Hey man, get a job, I would even get him a job,” said Strange.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department only has a very vague description of the suspect. The suspect is described as a clean cut man. As for Strange, he didn’t suffer any injures. Customers showed up, unaware of what happened a couple of days before.

That is just the way Strange likes, he’s looking for things getting back to normal.
