WISH-TV to broadcast Butler’s first two men’s basketball games

Indianapolis, Indiana – October 10, 2016 – WISH-TV and Butler Athletics have announced that two upcoming Butler men’s basketball exhibition games will air on WISH-TV. Butler hosts Wabash on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at 2 p.m., before hosting Saginaw Valley State on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at 7 p.m.

“We are thrilled to help tip-off the Bulldog basketball season with these games,” said Joe Abouzeid, WISH-TV interim General Manager. “WISH-TV is excited to continue our relationship and broadcast partnership with Butler. These games further WISH-TV’s ongoing commitment to localism and local sports.”

Anthony Calhoun, WISH-TV Sports Director, will handle the play-by-play, and will be joined by Ralph Reiff, Executive Director, St. Vincent Sports Performance, who formerly worked on the Butler staff. The duo has worked together on previous WISH-TV’s Butler broadcasts.

“This partnership with WISH-TV allows our two exhibitions to be broadcast to a large Indiana audience,” said Barry Collier, Butler Vice President/Director of Athletics. “This is a great complement to our regular season schedule and our national television broadcasts.”

Head Coach Chris Holtmann enters his third season on the Butler sidelines after leading the Bulldogs to the second round of the NCAA Tournament in each of his first two seasons in Indianapolis. The 2016-17 Bulldogs return three starters from last season’s team which finished the 2015-16 campaign with a 22-11 record. The Bulldogs also add a recruiting class ranked in the Top 25 by several outlets. The Bulldogs’ 79.9 points per game average, last season, ranked in the Top 25 nationally.
