Arrest made in September Monroe Co. murder
MONROE COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) – Authorities have made an arrest in connection to a September murder near Bloomington.
According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, 63-year-old John Henry Griffin was taken into custody Tuesday for the murder of Donald Gentry.
Gentry was killed inside his residence on Old State Road 37 South, approximately a mile south of the town of Bloomington.
Authorities said that Griffin was identified as a suspect two weeks before his arrest. At that time Bloomington PD and the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office conducted a joint investigation. During the investigation, several potential pieces of evidence were discovered.
Deputies said Griffin is also a registered sex offender.
Griffin was transported and booked into the Monroe County Correction Center. He faces a preliminary charge of murder.
