Indiana Red Cross Celebrates a Century of Service

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – From providing aid after unspeakable tragedies, to feeding hungry children and caring for the sick, the Indiana Red Cross has been saving lives since 1916.

Not only have these brave volunteers risked their own lives for generations, they have reached out and cared for many; providing warmth and comfort when hope seemed to be lost, and cheering the lonely with their company.

From health and safety classes to lifesaving blood collection, and through our support of military members, their families, and veterans, the Red Cross has helped to make our community safer and more prepared for what may come in the next 100 years.

This Saturday the Red Cross will bring the celebration to Monument Circle.  From 6:00pm until 10:00pm you can come out to make your mark on Red Cross history.  Join painters from Big Car Collective and across the community to create an original mural that highlights the Red Cross’ history in Indiana.  This free, public event have featured drinks, food trucks, live music, life-size games and more! You can get more information about the event HERE.

There will also be an exclusive VIP reception overlooking the Circle, beginning at 5:00 PM and concluding at 7:00 PM. VIP’s will enjoy an evening of complimentary drinks and hors d’oeuvres at a fabulous cocktail celebration. Guests will paint a piece of the community mural and mingle with Red Cross friends and family at this casual celebration. You can purchase tickets for the reception HERE.

Afterwards, join us on the Circle for an after-party under the stars as the Hoosiers who established a legacy of community resiliency and safety in Indiana will be honored.
