Kanaan to return to Ganassi for 20th season in an Indy car

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – Tony Kanaan and sponsor NTT Data will return to Chip Ganassi Racing next season.

It will be Kanaan’s 20th season in Indy car racing, his fourth with Ganassi. The former Indianapolis 500 winner has one win and 11 podium finishes with Ganassi.

NTT Data will be the primary sponsor on the No. 10 car for Kanaan. The sponsor joined Ganassi in 2013 at the Indianapolis 500, then became an associate partner. NTT Data became a primary sponsor on at Ganassi in 2014, and took over Kanaan’s car in 2015.

Kanaan had been mentioned frequently in the free agent pool as a driver potentially on the move next season. The Brazilian’s preference had been to stay with Ganassi, which last week announced it would move from Chevrolet to Honda next year.
