Vehicle hits house during pursuit

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A teenager in a reportedly stolen vehicle suspected of leading police on a chase was critically injured after the pursuit ended in a crash into a residence.

The accident happened in the area near East Michigan Street and North Grant Avenue just before 10 p.m. Tuesday.

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said officers pursued the stolen vehicle for less than a mile when the driver ran a stop sign.

A vehicle traveling through the intersection t-boned the fleeing vehicle which caused it to flip and crash into a nearby residence, police said.

According to IMPD, A 17-year-old male was ejected from the suspect vehicle and transported from the scene in critical condition. Two other people ran from the vehicle and were not located when IMPD K9 units attempted a track.

Medics took the driver of the other involved vehicle and a child to the hospital to be checked out.

No one was injured inside the residence hit in the crash.

IMPD considered the investigation active and ongoing as of early Wednesday.

The department urged anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at (317) 262-8477.
