Greenfield man arrested for possession of child pornography

GREENFIELD, Ind. (WISH) – Timothy Boyd of Greenfield pleaded not guilty on Wednesday to charges of possessing child pornography.

Tuesday morning state police searched his home in the 1600 block of Whisler Drive. In it they found a computer owned by Boyd with videos and images of child pornography

“This specific type of case is extraordinarily difficult because those aren’t just images those were people,” said Brent Eaton, the Hancock County Prosecutor.

According to the probable cause affidavit, some of the children in the videos and images were as young as three or four years old. Documents also show he preferred “pre-teen hard core” pornography.

“Real children that are having their innocence taken away and this is something where that really is going to effect those children for the rest of their lives,” said Eaton.

The case against Boyd began last week. State Police investigators said they found evidence of Boyd downloading and viewing child porn.

After interviewing him they said he admitted the crime. When asked why he did it, Boyd said, “adult pornography was boring him.”

Boyd told investigators he was a football and t-ball coach, but it’s not clear where. Boyd just moved to Greenfield six months ago. He was previously in Rushville.

The subdivision Boyd lives in is across the street from Greenfield Central Junior High School.

“The images of those children is something that really is disturbing and is something we take very seriously and we tend to prosecute to the best of our ability,” said Eaton.

Eaton said there’s no evidence that Boyd produced child porn, or that any of the children in the videos were local.

His trial date is set for February 14. If convicted he faces up to two and half years in prison.
