Primanti Brothers opens downtown, gives back to IMPD officers

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A sandwich shop opening up a new location downtown plans on doing a little good Wednesday. Primanti Brothers opened its second location in central Indiana.

At the new restaurant you’ll see a few things that will remind you of Indiana. Although the sandwich shop originated in Pittsburgh, they are here to support everything Indiana.

On Wednesday, they are doing more than just adding pictures to their wall of community members, they’re going out to give back.

Organizers say the plan is for hundreds of sandwiches to be grilled up and given away for free to Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers.

This will be the 36th location for Pittsburgh-based Primanti Brothers Restaurant and Bar. It’s the first in Indianapolis.

Ryan Wilkinson from Primanti brothers says the goal whenever a new shop opens up in the community is to give back to some of the people who make a difference.

“When we come into a new market we always look to partner with a local organization a charity somebody that we could really help that’s part of the local community and being that we are downtown we wanted to support IMPD. So we are delivering sandwiches for 12 hours to the IMPD. We are doing a charity event fundraiser for them this evening, so we are just really excited to partner with those who have served the Indianapolis community for years,” said Wilkinson.

The restaurant will spend 12 hours delivering food to officers who serve Indianapolis. The restaurant opened a Noblesville location back in May. Primianti Brothers plans on opening two more locations in the next few months.
