Four sexual assaults reported in 12 hours in West Lafayette

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WISH) — The West Lafayette Police Department is investigating four reports of sexual assaults or sexual offenses that were all reported within a 12-hour time frame.

The first was reported at 3:30 Thursday afternoon. Captain Davis VanVactor says it happened in the 800 block of Hayes Street. He says that case has been passed along to the prosecutor’s office.

The second report came in at 2:30 Friday morning. The victim claims the incident happened on the John T. Myers pedestrian bridge, near the fountain in Tapawingo Park.

Police received a third report of sexual assault at 3:10 Friday morning in the area of 135 South Chauncey Avenue.

The final call came in around 3:30 Friday morning. Officers were dispatched to the 400 block of Northwestern Avenue for that report.

Investigators do not believe these cases are related.

No arrests have been made at this time.
