Teen killed in Bartholomew Co. crash

BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) – A teenager was killed in a two vehicle crash Sunday afternoon in Bartholomew County.

According to the Indiana State Police, the fatal accident occurred just before 1 p.m. at the intersection of County Road 900 North and County Road 350 East.

Police said an early investigation appears to show that a 1995 Honda Accord, being being driven by 19-year-old Austin Wade, was traveling westbound on 900 North.  For unknown reasons, as the Accord was approaching the intersection to County Road 350 East, it appears to have entered into the path of a southbound 2005 Dodge truck driven by 36-year-old Eric Harper.

The Dodge truck then hit the passenger side of the Accord. The collision forced both vehicles off the roadway with Harper’s truck overturned in a nearby field.

The 17-year-old female passenger in the Honda Accord was air lifted to IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis where she later passed away due to her injuries.

Wade was transported to Columbus Regional Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.  Harper, the driver of the truck, and two juvenile passengers were uninjured.

The crash remains under investigation.
