IFD Chief to meet with Franklin Township residents to address consolidation concerns

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The leaders of the Indianapolis Fire Department will talk to people in Franklin Township about plans to consolidate services. This is a story we’ve been following all year long on WISH-TV.

IFD is calling this the 2016-2017 re-deployment plan.

Leaders have met with people and leaders across Marion County since March, but this is the first time the Chief will address people in Franklin Township directly.

Two fire stations will consolidate into the new station. That has some people worried about firefighters being able to cover the entire township.

IFD said the plan will save the department around $2.1 million by mid 2017.

Monday’s meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. at the Franklin Township Civic League.
